El Modena Remains Atop Orange County Football Poll

El Modena High School received nine out of 10 first-place votes and remained the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll.
The Vanguards (2-0) have outscored two opponents, 35-7, to gain the top spot. The top three teams--El Modena, Servite and Fountain Valley--retained their respective positions from last week with Capistrano Valley edging out Mission Viejo for fourth.
Edison, which failed to receive a vote last week, moved back into the top 10 following a 35-14 win over Colton. Valencia also returned to the top 10 following a 33-0 romp over Sonora.
In the featured game this week, eighth-ranked El Dorado hosts ninth-ranked Valencia on Friday night at Bradford Stadium in Placentia.
