Maijala’s Late Score Leads Cypress to 12-10 Victory Over Pasadena City

Garth Maijala scored the decisive goal with 2:16 to play and Cypress College added two more goals in the next 41 seconds Tuesday as the Chargers defeated Pasadena City, 12-10, in the South Coast Conference water polo opener for both at Pasadena.

Brent Parentheau led Cypress (1-0, 11-6-1) with four goals. Maijala and Lindo added three each.

In other South Coast Conference action:

Rancho Santiago 20, Fullerton 12--Greg LaPointe scored seven goals as the Dons beat the Hornets at Rancho Santiago.

Claudio Fialdini added three goals for the Dons (1-0, 12-1). Mike Cornell, Charles Summer, Marc Young and Darin Haskings had two each.

Fullerton’s Rick Stephan led all scorers with eight.
