Valerie West, a candidate for a master’s of fine arts degree at UCLA, has received the Howard L. Turner Memorial and Dennis Turner Award in screenwriting. The award from the UCLA Department of Theater Arts is designed to give financial aid and encouragement to talented and promising graduate students, according to Robert H. Gray, dean of the College of Fine Arts.
