An inmate at the County Jail downtown attempted to hang himself Friday by using bed sheets from his cell, a jail spokesman said. The inmate, whose name was not released, was listed in serious condition at UC San Diego Medical Center, the spokesman said.
At 12:05 p.m. Friday, deputies found the man and administered first aid, the spokesman said.
The 36-year old inmate was being held on a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon.
