TVA to Hire Inspector to End Power Problems

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority on Friday approved hiring an inspector general to resolve bureaucratic problems that have idled the federal utility’s entire nuclear power program.
The action was sought by members of Congress who have criticized TVA’s management, spiraling electricity rates, safety problems at nuclear power plants and TVA’s treatment of “whistle-blowers.”
