A trusty at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was killed when a 1,500-pound steel gate slipped off its tracks as he tried to close it and fell on top of him. David Alviso, 37, of Pico Rivera, was rushed to Henry Mayo Hospital in Newhall, but died a short time later, Deputy Steve Fitzsimmons said.
