The New York-based pharmaceutical concern and Tokyo-based Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. have agreed to establish a joint-venture company to market a line of prescription drugs in Japan, the world’s second-largest pharmaceuticals market after the United States. Sterling is a worldwide drug manufacturer and marketer with annual sales approaching $2 billion.
