‘INDAY’ PACKAGE SHRINKS AT KTLA

Less than a month after it was introduced as a bold attempt to establish an ad-hoc daytime network of independent stations, the two-hour “INDAY” package was on the verge of being cut in half by its distributor Wednesday because of low ratings.

A spokesman for KTLA Channel 5 said that, in response to a planned cutback by the syndicator, the Los Angeles station was dropping from its schedule after Friday “It’s a Great Life,” a talk show with Rosemarie and Robert Stack, and “All About Us,” a magazine show hosted by Ron Hendren.

However, a spokeswoman for the syndication company, Lexington Broadcast Services, said that national plans for these two shows had not been finalized as of Wednesday.

Beginning Monday, KTLA’s “INDAY” package will consist of a half-hour newscast at 11 a.m. and the informational “What’s Hot! What’s Not?” at 11:30 a.m., both of which have been running since Oct. 7. The canceled shows will be replaced by reruns of “The Twilight Zone.”
