Getting a Seal of Approval in the Bag

Newton Deiter of Los Angeles is looking for individual bags for a Dazy Seal-A-Meal unit but was unsuccessful in locating the manufacturer. Now he wonders whether anyone knows of a place that stocks these bags. Can you help, or will Deiter, far from being assured that the problem is in the bag, worry whether his fate has instead been sealed?

Thelma Davis of Santa Barbara has been trying to locate a sweater stretcher, which she describes as an adjustable metal frame on which you put a wet sweater to keep it from shrinking; it’s especially important for wool sweaters, she says. By any stretch of the imagination, can you help make a sweater girl out of Davis, or will she wonder whether she’s all wet in even looking for it?

Donna Hurst of Woodland Hills is trying to replace the lead for a magnetized pencil that has been on her refrigerator door for many years. The lead is 1.1 millimeters in size, but the stationery stores she has contacted carry only 0.9 millimeter lead. If the lead is no longer available, Hurst would appreciate finding the magnetized pencil. Can you help before Hurst is left out in the cold, or will she never be able to get the lead out?

We were hoping to have a few names for Marly of Oxnard, who was trying to obtain a snood to hold her long hair. No sources, but a Los Angeles reader named Helen sent us a coffee-colored handmade snood (at least it looks handmade) to be forwarded to Oxnard. Let’s hope that the color and size won’t make Marly’s hair curl.

Dori of Woodland Hills, who was looking for a freezer with door hinges on the left side, may perhaps be able to cool it. Anita Weiss of Calabasas Park says Dori needs a Sub-Zero and that the dealer closest to her is Snyder-Diamond, 12825 Vanowen St., North Hollywood; they are a plumbing-and-appliance supply house. And Charles W. Theobald of Los Angeles writes that several years ago he purchased an Amana with a right-hand door that, with a simple kit, could easily be converted to a left-hand door. He says there was a brochure with illustrations that outlined the conversion.
