‘Child Murders’ Retrial Sought

JACKSON, Ga. — Civil rights attorney William Kunstler filed a court petition today seeking a new trial for Wayne Williams, who is serving two life sentences for the so-called Atlanta child murders.
Kunstler said last week that prosecutors withheld information that could have affected the outcome of Williams’ trial. He said a possible Ku Klux Klan link in one of the 28 murders with which Williams, 24, was charged was never reported to defense lawyers.
