A 33-year-old San Diego man shot and critically injured his girlfriend early Saturday before killing himself, police said.
Police officers, responding to an emergency call for help, arrived at the house on the 4300 block of C Street and found the body of Jeff Noel. He died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, a deputy coroner said.
Lying nearby was Sandra Allen, 25, who was taken to Mercy Hospital where she is listed in critical but stable condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Police said that four small children, 8 months to 7 years old, were home at the time of the incident. The children, who were unharmed, were taken to Hillcrest Receiving Home, the spokesman said.
