Anaheim Girl Drowns in Backyard Pool
A 16-month-old Anaheim girl drowned Friday in the backyard swimming pool of friends her family was visiting.
According to police and fire department rescuers, Veronica Elizabeth Harrison was with her family at the friends’ home in Anaheim when she wandered to the backyard.
A short time later, after her family noticed she was missing, the girl was found floating face down in the swimming pool, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Steve Brace. She was pulled from the water and rescue personnel were called, but she was unconscious and not breathing when they arrived.
She was taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital, where efforts to revive her failed. She was then taken to Childrens Hospital of Orange County, where further efforts also failed. The Orange County coroner’s office is investigating the death.
