Mitch Parrott hit a 20-foot jump shot with three seconds left Friday night to give Camarillo a 42-40 upset win over top-ranked Simi Valley in a Marmonte League game.
“I don’t know how we did it,” Camarillo Coach John Harbour said, “but we got it done.”
Parrott was the main reason the Pioneers’ 14-game winning streak was snapped. The 6-4 senior forward scored 22 points, including all of the Scorpions’ six points in the fourth quarter. He also had 13 rebounds.
Simi Valley (8-1 in league, 20-2 overall) trailed Camarillo (5-4 in league, 13-8 overall) by nine points entering the fourth quarter, but tied the game behind the play of center Don MacLean, who had nine of his team-high 17 points.
