Walnut : Waste Task Force Sought
The City Council has passed a resolution calling on the San Gabriel Valley Assn. of Cities to form a task force that would review options for dealing with waste management and propose solutions that could be implemented throughout the area.
Councilman Drexel Smith said the task force, which would be made up of representatives from the 26 cities in the association, should allow proponents and opponents of different technologies to participate in discussions but that the main goal should be a consensus on solutions.
The resolution also calls on other cities to support formation of the task force.
A number of cities have already gone on record as opposing trash-to-energy projects.
