SOUTHERN SECTION SOCCER PLAYOFFS : Lompoc Beats Crespi, 2-1, in 3-A Upset

In one of several stunning soccer upsets on Friday, Lompoc beat Crespi in penalty-kick overtime, 2-1, to advance to the second round of the boys 3-A playoffs.
Going into the game, Crespi was ranked fourth in 3-A, while Lompoc was No. 14.
Lompoc took a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal Mike Wiezorek.
In the second period, Crespi’s Peter Zenobi caught Lompoc goalkeeper Armando Torres out of position and fired through a crowd to tie the score.
Crespi, which outshot Lompoc, 13-5, dominated the second overtime period, but could not score.
In penalty-kick overtime--a best-of-five shoot-out matching each goalkeeper with five shooters from the other team--Torres blocked three shots from the 12-yard mark.
Hart 4, El Segundo 0--Bob Wolfe scored two goals and the Indians had a 3-0 lead 15 minutes into the game to take an easy 3-A win. Hart is 13-6-2.
Burbank 4, Leuzinger 0--Senior forward Cesar Zepeda scored three goals and assisted on another as second-ranked Burbank (21-1) easily won in the 3-A Division.
Calabasas 2, Flintridge Prep 0--Calabasas halfback Paul Ratcliffe scored one goal in both 10-minute overtime periods to give the fourth-ranked Coyotes (15-5-3) a 1-A win at Flintridge Prep (7-9-4).
St. Bonaventure 3, L.A. Baptist 1--L. A. Baptist (15-4-2), ranked No. 2 in 1-A, was upset by unranked St. Bonaventure.
Oak Park 2, Montclair 1--Oak Park, ranked No. 6, upset No. 2 ranked Montclair in the girls 2-A game with two goals by Dana Neumann. Oak Park is 12-5-0.
