Spilotro Case Jury Indicates Difficulty Reaching Verdict
LAS VEGAS — The jury in the federal racketeering trial of Anthony Spilotro and eight others was ordered to return to the courtroom Tuesday morning amid growing indications that it could not reach a verdict.
The jury was sent home late Monday with orders to return in the morning after sending a note to U. S. District Judge Lloyd George which reportedly said a “unanimous decision cannot be reached on all counts.”
The orders to the jury came after George held a conference with attorneys.
The nine defendants face a total of more than three dozen counts, most of the charges involving conspiracy and racketeering.
Spilotro is alleged by government authorities to be the Las Vegas overseer for Chicago crime interests.
