Berkeley Barricade Blockaded
BERKELEY — Anti-apartheid activists responded to a metal police barricade with a human blockade this morning in their second effort to close the main administration building at the University of California, Berkeley.
“Let’s barricade the barricade” a protest leader shouted into a megaphone as about 150 demonstrators held hands and marched around California Hall. The protesters, who on Tuesday closed the building for 6 1/2 hours, continued to severely hamper administrative functions. An estimated 40% of the building’s 200 employees refused police escorts through the demonstrators.
