Norwalk : Banas to Seek Recount
Former City Councilman Louis Banas has asked for a recount of the April 8 election in which he lost by 28 votes to Grace M. Napolitano.
Banas, who earlier had said he would not seek a recount, said he was concerned about the accuracy of the count in Precinct 18, Napolitano’s home precinct, where she garnered 263 votes to Banas’ 123. Banas said he has heard allegations that people voted in the election who were not residents of the city.
City Clerk Mary Paxon said the recount would take two to three days and would begin today. She said she did not know how much the recount would cost Banas, but that it would be at least $140 a day.
Napolitano said she wished Banas luck in the recount, while her campaign manager, Randy Economy said Banas “just can’t accept that the party’s over.”
