The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the local office of the FBI have formed a joint, anti-terrorist task force. A Police Department spokesman said Chief Daryl F. Gates signed a formal cooperative agreement April 24 with the other agencies. Sheriff Sherman Block said he, Gates and Richard Bretzing, head of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, will make a “public statement” on May 7.
