Olajuwon Accused of Hitting Clerk
Houston Rockets center Akeem Olajuwon was accused of punching a clerk in a convenience store, and police have issued a warrant for his arrest, the Houston Chronicle reported. The newspaper quoted a constable as saying a clerk at a 7-Eleven in North Houston, near Olajuwon’s home, claimed the player struck him in the face last Friday night.
Dick Moore, the Harris County Precinct 4 constable, said the clerk did not elaborate on what led to the alleged incident. Moore is said to have issued the warrant against the 7-foot, 250-pound player on a Class C assault charge.
Olajuwon, who was in Denver Wednesday for the third and fourth games in the Rockets’ NBA Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets, was not immediately available for comment.
