Costa Mesa : 1,600 Customers Lose Power in Cable Failure
Traffic signals were knocked out and electricity was cut off to about 1,600 customers at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday when underground power cables failed at Harbor Boulevard and Nutmeg Place, a spokesman for Southern California Edison said.
The power failure resulted in rush-hour traffic jams along Harbor, police said.
The affected area is bordered on the east by Fairview Road, on the north by Gisler Avenue, on the south by Adams Avenue and on the west by Jacaranda Avenue, Edison spokesman Gene Carter said. Most of the customers affected were residential, he said.
Full power was restored to all but five customers by 6:52 p.m., Carter said. By 7:36 p.m. all power was restored, he said.
