Comstock reinstated some disputed policies.

Jack Staitman, the lawyer for 500 auto repair shop owners and tire dealers, said the Los Angeles insurance company reinstated his clients’ policies after Comstock found a reinsurer for policies that provided more than $500,000 in liability coverage and $250,000 in property damage coverage. Staitman said, however, that the auto repair shop owners and tire dealers haven’t dropped a 2-month-old lawsuit. The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that Comstock wrongly canceled the policies before they expired and seeks $5 million in damages.
