3% Civil Service Pay Hike Voted

WASHINGTON — House and Senate budget negotiators agreed today to give civilian federal employees a 3% pay increase next year but put off difficult decisions on military spending, foreign aid and taxes.
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Pete V. Domenici (R-N.M.) said although the Senate’s budget called for only a 2% federal pay hike, President Reagan recommended the 3% figure approved by the House--and “the President is in the driver’s seat.” Reagan must approve the raise.
