A Northern California woman who received a heart donated from an Anaheim Hills boy in a transplant operation has died, a Stanford University hospital spokesman said Tuesday.
Elvira Nunes, 30, of Antioch died at 6:30 p.m. Monday of cardiopulmonary arrest and renal failure, according to Rebecca Berntson.
Nunes had received the heart of 13-year-old Jeffrey Allen Bush in an operation Saturday at Stanford University Medical Center after the boy’s parents decided to donate the organ.
The boy had been pronounced brain-dead following an accident Friday in which a shotgun discharged while pointed at his head.
A memorial service for the Bush youth will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, 902 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, with burial in Loma Linda Memorial Park.
