Fight Disrupts Peace Congress

COPENHAGEN — Fighting broke out at the opening of the World Peace Congress today when demonstrators from the London-based Assn. for a Free Russia unfurled a banner saying “This is a KGB Peace Congress.”
Others jumped on to the platform to denounce the organizers of the meeting. After calm was restored, congress Chairman Hermod Lannung stressed the importance of an end to the superpower arms race. The five-day congress, drawing 2,300 peace activists from 133 nations, is the first of its kind to be held in a member state of NATO.
