Herat and Glow, two sons ofNorthern Dancer, easily won their races on the first Maryland Million Day, a card limited to the offspring of Maryland stallions, at Laurel Race Course in Laurel, Md.
Herat, owned by John Franks of Shreveport, La., and ridden by Jerry Bailey, won the $200,000 Budweiser Maryland Classic by 5 1/2 lengths. He covered the 1 miles in 2:03 1/5, one-fifth of a second off the track record.
Glow, owned by Sonia Rogers of Ireland and also ridden by Bailey, won the $100,000 Ryland Group Maryland Turf by 6 1/2 lengths over Air Dancer.
