Fight Erupts at UCLA Over CIA Recruiting
A fight broke out Monday between rival UCLA student groups demonstrating outside a building in which the CIA was recruiting, and one of the participants sustained minor injuries in the scuffle.
UCLA officials said about two dozen people were protesting the CIA presence on campus, and a smaller group that said it was “pro-American” carried signs expressing support for the agency. A member of the smaller group, Chris Phillips, 30, a postdoctoral scholar in mathematics, was treated for minor injuries and released from the UCLA Medical Center.
Campus police stopped the fight quickly but made no arrests.
