Cable & Computer Receives Navy Contract for $911,000

Cable & Computer Technology Inc., an Anaheim company that makes copies of computer products, has received a $911,000 contract from the U.S. Navy to provide 33 copies of a military computer controller for mass storage systems.
The land-based controllers will help regulate ship-to-shore computer functions.
The company already has started production on the 18-month contract, said Kirk A. Hollingsworth, Cable & Computer’s vice president.
The company was formed in 1980 solely for designing and manufacturing products that emulate older, unsupportable systems.
Last month, for instance, the company announced a $5.3-million contract with the U.S. Air Force to build emulators, as they are known, to replace computers that International Business Machines Corp. was phasing out. The Air Force had $50 million worth of software keyed into the old machines for the maintenance of the Minuteman missile guidance system, Hollingsworth said.
