Perceptronics’ Profit Up 86% in Second Quarter

Perceptronics’ profit climbed 86% for the second quarter ended Sept. 30 from the same period last year on sales that rose 12%. The Woodland Hills-based defense company reported net income of $327,269, or 9 cents a share, on sales of nearly $8.4 million for the most recent quarter.

For the six months ended Sept. 30, Perceptronics reported net income of $578,682, or 15 cents a share, up 88% from a year earlier. Revenue was up 30%, to $16.6 million.

Perceptronics performs research and development, primarily for the Department of Defense. It also manufactures computer equipment for the military. The company said all of its divisions enjoyed growth, especially its training-and-simulation systems unit.

The company also announced it received a two-year, $2-million research-and-development contract from the Army Research Institute of Alexandria, Va., for low-cost training systems for tank commanders.
