Congressman-elect Elton Gallegly on Monday named Mike Sedell, the deputy city manager of Simi Valley, to head his congressional staff. Gallegly is Simi Valley’s mayor.
Sedell, 35, has worked for the city since 1972 in various positions. He will resign on Nov. 30, and take charge of the congressional office transition from Rep. Bobbi Fiedler (R-Northridge), who currently represents the 21st Congressional District.
Sedell began his career as an intern and became deputy city manager in 1979. He has been responsible for labor union negotiations and day-to-day oversight of city departments.
He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and urban studies in 1973 from California State University, Northridge, and a masters degree in public administration in 1975 from the University of Southern California.
Simi Valley officials said they do not know who will replace Sedell.
