Houston Rockets guard Lewis Lloyd was arrested for failing to make child support payments when he arrived in Philadelphia for a game the next day, police in Philadelphia said Sunday.
Lloyd, 27, was arrested Saturday as he checked in at the Embassy Suites near the Philadelphia International Airport, police said.
He was held for several hours at the Philadelphia Detention Center before the Rockets posted his bail.
Lloyd was ordered by a Philadelphia Family Court in October to pay $300 a week in child support to the guardian of an 8-year-old boy whose birth certificate identifies Lloyd as the father, police said.
The ruling also ordered Lloyd, who played high school basketball in Philadelphia, to pay $100 a week retroactively for an undisclosed period of time.
The child’s mother was slain in February 1981, and custody was given to the boy’s aunt in March 1984. Authorities declined to identify the child or his guardian.
