Dogs in Trucks
There should be a law making it a punishable offense to transport pets in the backs of open vehicles.
Every time I have the misfortune of driving behind a pickup truck carrying a dog in the rear end, I shudder and pray to God that the animal stays put until I have passed it. I don’t know if the driver is unaware of, or chooses to ignore, the dog’s pacing back and fourth, peering over the sides, and looking as if it were about to jump out onto the road at any moment.
Whenever I am forced to look at the bloody, battered, mangled remains of an animal that met its demise on the freeway, or the surface streets, I can be certain that it was the beloved pet of someone who was being “kind” by not leaving the animal at home.
