The Region : 1 Slain, 1 Wounded in Bar Argument
One man was slain and another was wounded in a shooting incident that police said apparently began with an argument in a neighborhood restaurant and bar. Shortly after midnight, a man pulled a small-caliber handgun and began shooting after a fight broke out near pool tables at Carrasas Restaurant, 2800 W. 7th St., Los Angeles, police said. Romero Penado, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jose Gabriel Molina, 24, was listed in satisfactory condition at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. The incident allegedly occurred after two men approached Molina and one “asked if he wanted to die,” police said. Molina reportedly attempted to ignore the suspects, one of whom then allegedly struck Molina with his fists, knocked him to the floor and kicked him. After the shootings occurred, the suspects fled on foot with the weapon, police said.
