Applauds Pullout

Congratulations are in order for Kodak as a result of its withdrawal from South Africa.
On the surface, Kodak, General Motors, IBM, Barclay’s and others have demonstrated a visible commitment to the lofty egalitarian principle that “all men are created equal.”
But cut through the rhetoric and the ever-present adherence to preserving a positive bottom line can be seen. Saying “no” to Botha, is simply good business. Regardless of their base motivations, the companies that have pulled out of South Africa should be applauded for their efforts. Note that most of them are American companies.
Where do others stand on “The South Africa Question?” Let’s hope that all the world’s economic powers will also remove themselves from the onerous South African market to once and for all support the concept of “people before profits.”
