A San Diego woman suffered fatal injuries Wednesday, and an unidentified boy suffered minor injuries after her car slammed into a light pole and a telephone pole, San Diego police said.
Jennifer Barrett, 21, apparently was traveling west at a high rate of speed about 8 a.m. on Ocean View Boulevard when she lost control of her car, skidded across the eastbound lanes and plowed into the poles, Sgt. Jim Wallace said.
She was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where she died a few hours later of massive internal injuries, a deputy coroner said. The child, who was not identified, was taken to Children’s Hospital, where he was reported in serious condition, police said. Authorities said he was 4 to 6 years old.
