La Mirada : More Land for Auto Row
The City Council has moved closer to establishing an auto row by purchasing another acre of land in the 14800 block of Snell Street along the Santa Ana Freeway. The Redevelopment Agency paid $460,000 for the land and existing office buildings, which will be razed for the auto row project.
In the past year, the city has obtained 11 acres along Snell, which parallels the freeway on the city’s southern edge. Another seven acres are needed, however, to handle the four dealerships the city is hoping to attract. City officials estimate four dealerships would generate anywhere from $480,000 to $1.6 million a year in sales tax for the city.
