Girls’ Roundup : Gondringer’s 33 Points Lead La Quinta

Junior center Donna Gondringer scored 33 points to lead La Qunita High School to a 77-38 victory over Garden Grove Friday night in the Garden Grove League opener for both teams at La Quinta.

Sue Paulson scored 13, and Cindi Kollar and Patti Luta scored 12 each for the Aztecs (1-0, 8-5).

In other Garden Grove League games:

Los Amigos 54, Rancho Alamitos 38--The Lobos won at Rancho Alamitos despite 19 points from the Vaqueros’ Paula Butterfield.

In nonleague play:

Woodbridge 57, University 19--Randee Mahony led a balanced Warrior attack with 16 points in the nonleague victory at Woodbridge. Gilly Powell had 14 and Angie Hubner added 13 for the Warriors (10-5). University trailed at halftime, 33-9.

In the Academy League:

Whitney 59, Newport Christian 11--Guards Debbie DeLeon with 31 points and Kim Moon with 11 paced the victory over the Conquerers (0-2, 0-5). Whitney is 1-2, 3-2.
