BankAmerica wants access to confidential filings.

In a request to the Federal Reserve Board under the Freedom of Information Act, BankAmerica sought access to the confidential portions of Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bancorp’s Dec. 8 application to acquire BankAmerica. The data could help BankAmerica, the San Francisco-based parent of Bank of America, repel First Interstate’s hostile bid. The Fed has sought comment from First Interstate and will decide whether to supply all or some of the material to BankAmerica.
