Tickets Keep Winding Up in the Hands of the Rich
Elliott Almond’s piece on Super Bowl tickets was truly disgusting, but not at all surprising. The entertainment ticket situation in Southern California is a disgrace. We have alowed access to a wide range of events--sporting, musical and other--to become the province of the moneyed few.
Our legislature evinces no interest in the problem, and it is a problem when $75 tickets are sold legally for $1,125. Ticket scalpers are referred to by the sanitized euphemism brokers when in fact they are scum who conspire to keep the tickets out of the hands of normal working people. What’s wrong with our legislature?
