Lazers, Comets Meet at the Forum Tonight

The Los Angeles Lazers and Kansas City Comets, both playing under interim coaches, will meet in a Major Indoor Soccer League game tonight at 7:30 at the Forum.

It will mark the first appearance of the Lazers under someone other than Peter Wall, who was fired Wednesday. Mike Mahoney, last year’s goalkeeper and this year’s assistant coach, will fill in until the Lazers find a full-time successor to Wall.

The Comets announced the firing of Coach Rick Benben last Monday and appointed assistant coach Niki Nikolic as their interim coach. They are 9-14 and in fourth place, while the last-place Lazers have a 6-14 mark.
