Northridge Beats UCI in Swimming, 118-109
The Cal State Northridge men’s swimming team, led by John Morrison, defeated UC Irvine, 118-109, Friday in a nonconference meet at Irvine.
Morrison won the 1,000-meter freestyle in 9 minutes 50.06 seconds and was second in the 500 freestyle (4:56.18).
Kurt Fuchs and Brian Judd each won two events for Irvine. Fuchs won the 50 freestyle in 21.86 and the 100 freestyle in 47.38. Judd won the 200 freestyle in 1:45.64 and the 500 freestyle in 4:46.95.
The Matadors improved to 7-1. The Anteaters fell to 4-4.
In the women’s meet:
Cal State Northridge 146, UC Irvine 71--Second place was the best the Anteaters (5-5) could do in any event. Freshman Lara Bigley was second in the 200-meter backstroke (2:23.80).
Judy Kylander of Northridge set a pool record in the 100-meter freestyle (53.93). She also won the 50-meter freestyle (24.66).
