Arizona Sweeps UC Irvine in Baseball, 6-5

Arizona completed a three-game sweep of UC Irvine Saturday when the Wildcats scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Anteaters, 6-5, in nonconference action on Sancet Field at Tucson.
Rich Schmaun led the Wildcats’ (3-0) comeback with a bases-loaded single that drove in two runs.
Irvine pitcher Gabbe Rodriguez did not allow a hit until Arizona’s Dave Shermet led off the fifth inning with a home run.
Chris Gallego was 2 for 4 and drove in three runs for the Anteaters (0-3). Gallego was 5 for 12 in the series.
The Anteaters will play Cal State Northridge Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Northridge.
