Escondido
Escondido firefighters Friday discovered a greenhouse full of marijuana plants when they were called to a garage fire in the 700 block of West El Norte Parkway that may have been started by a failure in the lighting system.
The fire was minimal and Escondido police officers later arrived with a search warrant. Police arrested both residents of the home, Greg Gramalegui, 26, and Linda Paul, 29, after seizing 212 plants, ranging from six inches to four feet tall.
The special investigation officers also confiscated 18 pounds of marijuana that had already been harvested, according to police spokesman Paul Bebo.
Both suspects were charged with cultivation, possession for sale and possession of marijuana.
