Teacher Charged in Molestations
Charges of molesting 10 girls and illegally paddling four boys were filed today against a Los Angeles Unified School District teacher who taught for 16 years at 97th Street Elementary School, City Atty. James K. Hahn said.
A 29-count misdemeanor complaint accused Don Ray Moore, 53, of intimately touching female students in front of other classmates and in a schoolroom closet. He faces 11 counts of child molestation, 10 counts of battery, 6 counts of sexual battery and 2 counts of willful infliction of mental suffering on a child. Moore, a fifth-grade teacher, has been employed by the district for 20 years. School officials reassigned Moore last year to administrative duties when his alleged misconduct was reported.
