Audiotronics Narrows Loss for 2nd Quarter

Audiotronics lost $12,000 in its second quarter ended Dec. 31, against a $130,000 loss in the same period a year ago. Sales from continuing operations were $1.35 million, down 26%. Per share, the company lost 1 cent, against 11 cents a year ago.
For the six months, the North Hollywood maker of educational audio-visual products earned $8,000, against a loss of $432,000 a year ago. Sales from continuing operations were $3.0 million, up 9%. Per share, the company earned 1 cent, versus a year-ago loss of 36 cents.
The company attributed its improved profit showing to cost cutting and the introduction of products. It said sales in the year-ago second quarter were unusually high because of large shipments of previously out-of-inventory products.
