“D.U.I.” (U.S.A., 1986, 11:30 p.m.). This documentary of the early-’80s L.A. rock underground presents crude performances and interviews in an equally unrefined--and sometimes difficult to watch--cinematic style. The featured acts (including Tequila Mockingbird) are generally closer to performance artists than conventional bands, and are of widely varying musical value. Still, “D.U.I.” (which was shot by director Spike Stewart on home video equipment) is an interesting look at a largely ignored realm of local music.
