Harrington Wins 3,000 Meters, Sets UCI Mark
Jill Harrington of UC Irvine won the 3,000-meter race at the Stanford Invitational Friday in a college-record time of 9 minutes 14.2 seconds.
The victory qualified Harrington for the event at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, La., June 3-6.
Last Saturday, Harrington, a junior, qualified for the 1,500 meters in the NCAA Championships by running 4:18.8 in a four-way meet at UC Irvine.

For UCI, Adrian Justice won the triple jump (49 feet, 11 3/4 inches), Fred Simmons placed third in the 100 meters (10.75).
