San Diego : College Baseball : San Diego State Rallies to Win

San Diego State overcame a four-run first inning by UCLA to upset the Bruins, 6-5, in a nonconference baseball game at Westwood Tuesday afternoon.
After UCLA took a 4-0 lead, the Aztecs rallied to score five runs in the fifth. The Bruins tied the score, 5-5, in the sixth, but the Aztecs (17-13-1) rallied again to score the winning run in the eighth. Pitcher Russ Ratliff got his first victory of the season in relief.
UC Irvine 9, USD 6--USD’s John Holt hit a grand slam in the second give the Toreros a 5-2 lead. USD led, 6-4, going into the eighth, but UC Irvine’s Mike Fay hit a pinch-hit grand slam to put the Anteaters ahead for good at San Diego. Holt was 2 for 2 with 4 RBI and scored twice for USD (21-11-1). Mike Sugar was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead UC Irvine (15-14-1).
Point Loma Nazarene 10, Cal State College San Bernardino 5--Ron Burkland went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead the Crusaders (12-19) to the nonconference victory at Cal State San Bernardino (11-8).
