Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Mel Torme, George Shearing, Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Joe Williams and Marian McPartland are set to appear at this year’s JVC Jazz Festival in New York, impresario George Wein announced Tuesday. Others who will appear during the June 19-28 festival: the Wynton Marsalis Quintet; Rolling Stone Charlie Watts with the big jazz band he put together, and Ornette Coleman with his original quartet, featuring Don Cherry, and his present Prime Time Band.
