In a move that completes a 2-year-old corporate restructuring, Kenneth Roman was named chairman of the New York ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide. He was formerly president. William E. Phillips will remain CEO of the firm which, with 1986 worldwide billings of $3.1 billion, ranks as the fifth-largest agency worldwide.
Phillips is also chairman and CEO of the holding company Ogilvy Group.
“The annual meeting is coming up shortly,” said a company spokesman, “and the executives wanted the restructuring completed before then.” The shareholders meeting is scheduled May 12.
